Joachim Asch

Biography

The aim of yoga is the control of the individual’s mind and its union with the Universal Mind. I discovered the power of yoga while I was studying in Berlin in the mid-80s. I have practiced it ever since, in particular in Provence where I’ve lived since the mid-90s. I work as a scientist; since 2009, I have taught yoga whenever my free time allows me to do so. My inward journey of yoga has been made possible mostly thanks to the international school which BKS Iyengar built in order to share his knowledge and his findings. His biggest achievement is to make yoga accessible to each and every person in the world. My two favorite aspects of Iyengar Yoga are the exploration of the mind-body system and its strong therapeutic aspect.
